The historic Carrollton and Audubon Park neighborhoods are a
national treasure - an “urban village” with a delicate mixture of
homes and small neighborhood-oriented businesses living
side by side in 19th and early 20th century buildings.
You Are Invited to Plan Our Future
Dear Neighbor,
Join with Carrollton-Audubon Renaissance, Inc. (CARI) and help plan the future for the Carrollton-Audubon neighborhoods of New Orleans. CARI is a grass-roots planning organization. We provide a mechanism for local citizen participation and a voice for Carrollton-Audubon neighborhoods in the post-Hurricane Katrina planning process.
We invite neighborhood residents, businesses, educational and religious organizations to help create a satisfying and economically vibrant urban area, while preserving our historic heritage. Based on input from all stakeholders, we will develop a long-range neighborhood master plan — a “Renaissance Plan” — containing visions and policies to promote the well-being of our neighborhood. This City-sanctioned Renaissance Plan allows our neighborhood and City Hall to work together to build a strong community and guide development and investment in our area.
CARI is an educational tool, an electronic forum, and an open channel between neighborhoods and City Hall. CARI will ease quarrelsome public debate, lessen government burden, and reduce neighborhood-developer tension. Using this planning tool to solve problems and chart our post-Katrina future will set an example for other New Orleans neighborhoods.
We study community-wide issues such as land use, housing, commercial development, neighborhood history, social services, crime, transportation, and other public service needs. We promote business, education, and workforce development. We encourage home renovation and rehabilitation of blighted properties, while protecting our historic housing and improving our green spaces. We promote a clean, beautiful, and safe environment.
CARI is a not-for-profit, 501(c)3 corporation and welcomes tax-deductible donations. If you live, work, study, or worship in our Carrollton-Audubon neighborhoods we encourage your participation in the planning process. Help turn our neighborhood-City Hall covenant into reality.
Sincerely yours,
Board of Directors
Carrollton-Audubon Renaissance, Inc.
